Fighting childhood caries

6th June 2019

I was delighted to present at the Dentistry Show at the NEC last month. I was presenting on the importance of behaviour change techniques to help younger patients and their parents adopt good brushing practices. Sadly caries among children is still a major public health concern. According to Public Health England, children as young as ten have already consumed 18 years’ worth of sugar! Tooth decay is still the most common chronic disease among children and teenagers, despite being entirely preventable. However, the latest digital technologies are providing the dental profession with a whole raft of means to help our patients improve their oral health. It was a great day and I had some very enjoyable discussions with fellow professionals.
